The stars above they are not my stars
And the faces show no trace of comprehension

They head south for the winter
Well I’d be heading north
But that was in a different place
And I’m a little off-course

Way down under
I wake while they sleep

That the gum trees are sad
And barely whisper
Cause like me they’d rather be

The water flows the other way or so I’m told
It’s getting warmer at home but here it’s cold
Camille had a child
Kasey’s engaged
Lisa was a bride
Paul passed away

But that’s half a world away
Way down under
Goes on while I’m gone
Is it any wonder
I eat Vegemite on lonely nights
And dream of mother
Cause she knows I’d rather be
Half a world away
