GUY CLARK - Dublin Blues I watched Guy play this on BBC's 'The Atlantic Sessions' live show. Thought that you JJW pickers might like to see how he does it. I haven't bothered transcribing anything other than the intro in detail, which he repeats at various times through the song. I've also left out the strumming. Guy makes lots of use of a hammer/pull-off of the A string, dropping to the lowered 6th (D) The key to getting the 'Guy' sound is the Dropped D 6th string and the heavy bass (best got with a pre-war Martin D-28, but a bit excessive if you don't happen to have one lying around your house). I play the A chords with thumb dropped over and fretting an A on the 6th string, and the G chords by fretting the bottom three strings on the 5th fret above the capo/nut and just playing those bottom strings. This gives it a much more 'punchy' feeling. You can also play the G by fingering 020030 (which is what I think Guy does). I've marked where this sounds best. Enjoy.
